Walk for Wellness

  • 14 December 2016
  • 9:00 AM
  • Gainesville Hawthorne State Trail

Registration is closed

Be active and healthy in your Florida State Parks.

Join us for a walk of approximately 3 miles on the Gainesville-Hawthorne State Trail.  We will walk from the La Chua Trail parking lot to the Alachua Lake Overlook and back.

Meet us in the La Chua Trail parking lot.

We will walk at a pace that suits the group, or you're welcome to move at your own pace.  If you're not up for the full 3 miles, there is a bench near the spur to the overlook (between 0.5 - 0.75 mile from the parking lot).  You can rest and wait at the bench, then join up with us again on our return, or simply turn around whenever you're ready.  Join us and do what you can, and perhaps the next week you may be able to go a little further.  On a similar note, if you'd like to keep your heart rate up and move a little faster, you're welcome to go your own pace and we'll catch up to you at the overlook or when we return.

Check the weather and dress accordingly.  Bring a water bottle - there is a water fountain near the parking lot, but not anywhere else along the walk. Wear your fitness shoes/clothing and be ready to get active!

Please RSVP so that we can contact you if anything changes or the walk is cancelled for any reason

Our intention is to offer this walk routinely throughout the year, so if you're looking for a new routine to get out and be active, join us and we can help to keep you motivated!
