Wildlife Walks on La Chua Trail are provided on the second Saturday of the Month, November through March.

Meet at 8:00 AM in the La Chua Trail parking lot by the kiosk.

 

$2 Per Person - Cash only, pay onsite

 

This hike is limited to 25 people.  Please pre-register online and bring a printed copy of your email confirmation with you to the hike. 

Join one the Preserve’s rangers and take a walk on the wild side. This leisurely paced excursion onto the Prairie basin via La Chua Trail provides a wonderful opportunity to observe the unusual plants and magnificent animals that inhabit the vast 21,000-acre preserve. This walk varies in distance from 1 mile to 3 miles depending on conditions, wildlife sightings, and participant preferences. If you’re feeling up to a 3 mile walk, La Chua Trail ends with an observation deck overlooking Alachua Lake. Walk is 3 – 4 hours. There is a 25 person limit.

 

The La Chua Trail is located on the north rim of Paynes Prairie, in Gainesville. The entrance is on Camp Ranch Road, off of SE 15th St.
