    Enjoyed my first sighting of the yellow billed cuckoo at Camps Canal.  Also some blue gnatcatchers.

    Visitors to the VC on Friday, 3/29 were treated to a panoramic view of about 25-30 of the Bison which slowly grazed from right to left as visitors lined up on the railing to watch.  The horses were also available for viewing.

    Many sandhill cranes are spending time around the cattle pasture on the northern edge of the prairie on the west side of US 441.

    Flocks of several dozen come off the prairie just before dawn, whistling and screeching like little parrots, and spreading across Gainesville's numerous wetlands to feed.  This previously exotic(Caribbean) duck has been breeding on the prairie for several years and is now quite numerous.
