    This Juggling workshop is designed to teach you the proper techniques of juggling, develop a new sense of confidence, and channel your inner clown to better juggle multiple tasks in your life.  All skill levels are welcome and all juggling equipment required will be provided. 

    In this class you’ll learn about the various health benefits to juggling, participate in a relaxing activity, and share a valuable learning experience with others.  Initial laughter will transform into a collective sense of success, so bring a friend to share a transformative experience in a beautiful natural setting.   

    About the instructor: Joe Hartman

    Joe is one of our most valued volunteers at the park and currently serves at our visitor center.  Previously, as an elementary school counselor he had an after school juggling program which included over 300 jugglers.  He had a large performing group and several students who completed on local, regional, and national levels.

    Never juggled before? No problem, since this is an excellent class for beginners.
    Come on out to enjoy an exciting learning experience in one of the area's best state parks!

    This gentle all levels practice is designed to release stress and tension after the work day and will include breathing exercises, gentle stretching, and a guided relaxation in a beautiful natural setting. All skill levels are welcome.

     

    Is it your first time doing yoga? No problem, since this is an excellent class for beginners. If you have a mat, please bring it with you. You may also like to bring a cushion or towel to use as a prop. We will have some extra mats, bolsters, and blocks for participants to use as well, so if you have limited mobility we have some great tools to help you be comfortable and enjoy your experience.

     

    Come on out to the visitor center to enjoy a relaxing session in one of the area's best state parks!

    In a joint celebration of National Public Lands Day and Bike Your Park Day, join us on a 5 mile ride to combat invasive species. We will pull caesar’s weed along the trail and then enjoy an optional interpretive bike ride.

    Things to bring: bike and helmet, sunscreen, bug spray, long pants, closed-toe shoes, work or garden gloves, and a sense of adventure!

    When: Saturday, September 28th 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    • Paynes Prairie- Bolen Bluff Trailhead

    In celebration of National Public Lands Day join us on the Bolen Bluff Trail as we pull invasive coral ardisia plants. Afterwards, we’ll take an optional 1.5 mile interpretive hike along the trail. If we’re lucky, maybe we’ll catch a glimpse of the elusive bison and wild horses!

    Things to bring: sunscreen, bug spray, long pants, closed-toe shoes, work or garden gloves, and a sense of adventure!

    Members of Friends of Paynes Prairie. Student, Senior, Individual, Family, Group or Club, Corporate, Life-Individual, or Life-Family membership required to participate. Friends of Paynes Prairie, Inc. will determine winners’ eligibility in its sole discretion.

    Contest Rules:

    Youth Entries (17 and under) Categories:

    How to enter: 

    • Please email your entry to: foppphotocontest@gmail.com 
    • Include your name, 
    • Age, 
    • Email address,
    •  Category, 
    • Date picture was taken, 
    • Approximate time of day picture was taken, 
    • Location in Paynes Prairie where photo was taken. 
    • Only one entry will be accepted. If multiple entries are submitted, only the first entry will be judged. Photographs must be in a .jpg, .jpeg or .gif format. Files submitted may not be larger than 5Mb. By entering the contest, entrants grant the Friends of Paynes Prairie, Inc. the right to diplay photographs.

    Entry Deadline:

    All entries must be received through the foppphotocontest@gmail.com web site by 6:00 pm eastern time on September 30, 2019.

    Judging:

    Judging of contest will be conducted by the Board of Directors of Friends of Paynes Prairie, Inc. or those individual(s) authorized by the board. Winners will be notified by email provided with entry. Four category winners will be selected for Youth Entries and four category winners will be selected for Adult Entries. This contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. The Friends of Paynes Prairie, Inc. reserves the right to cancel the contest or modify these rules at its discretion. In the event of a dispute regarding the winners, the Friends of Paynes Prairie, Inc. reserves the right to award or not award the prizes in its sole discretion. The Friends of Paynes Prairie, Inc. reserves the right to disqualify any entrant whose entry or conduct appears in any way to: inhibit the enjoyment of others; tamper with the competition; violate these rules; infringe on the rights of third parties; or act in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Decisions of the Friends of Paynes Prairie, Inc. are final.

    Prizes:

    Each category winner will receive a t-shirt from the gift shop at Paynes Prairie.

    • Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park- Chacala trailhead

    Join us for a fun two-mile hike with the park biologist.  You will have the opportunity to discover one of the parks most unique trails while learning about resource management techniques used at Paynes Prairie.  The park biologist will specifically review the use of prescribed fire and identify it’s benefits to the wildflowers in bloom.  Come experience some of the most exquisite and unique native plants that thrive when supported by a natural fire cycle.    

    What to bring: closed toed shoes, bug spray, water, a camera, and a sense of wonder.

The theme is TREES and 10% of the sale proceeds will be donated to Friends of Paynes Prairie.
