Living History with William Bartram

Join us for a journey back to 1774 with Living History brought to you by the Sunshine State Book Festival.  Naturalist, botanist, and explorer- William Bartram will make an appearance and tell us his story of the "level grassy plain".  

“We soon entered a level, grassy plain, interspersed with low, spreading, three-leaved Pine trees, large patches of low shrubs… The land gently rising, the soil fertile, loose, loamy and of a dark brown colour.  This continues near a mile, when at once opens to view, the most sudden transition from darkness to light, that can possibly be exhibited in a natural landscape.”
