National Public Lands Day: Invasive Plant Removal

  • 30 September 2017
  • 9:00 AM - 11:00 PM
  • Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park

  • RSVP so we can contact you with any updates or changes.

Celebrate National Public Lands Day by removing nonnative invasive plants that threaten Florida's natural ecosystems.
Participants will be working in a natural area of the park (be prepared to go off trail!) with our AmeriCorps members.

We will meet at 9am and work until 11am, but we will provide details regarding the specific meeting/work site closer to the event (we're monitoring the water levels and need to wait and see what the conditions are closer to the event).

If you go ahead and RSVP on this site, we can get back to you when the meeting location is determined (we'll also post it on this page).

Participation is limited to 20 participants.  All ages welcome.

Please be prepared to work in outdoor conditions.  You will need closed toe shoes that you don't mind getting muddy, gloves, garden tools if you have them, sunblock, bug spray, and most importantly a water bottle.  We will provide the garbage bags and have an igloo of water to refill water bottles as needed.
