The Florida Park Service, through funding from the National Scenic Byways Program, is planning improvements to the Paynes Prairie Visitor Center - a key destination on the Old Florida Heritage Highway. New, compelling exhibits and dynamic audiovisual programs will create a meaningful gateway for exploring the area's natural significance and rich cultural history.

Paynes Prairie is geologically, biologically, and historically unique. It is important to people past, present and future. The project will focus on the visitor - connecting people and place - to inform, engage, inspire.
