Contribute to the Nathan Howell Memorial BenchDear Friend: As many of you know, Ranger Nathan Howell was killed in the line of duty on 28 June 2008. There was a violent thunderstorm in progress, and Nathan drove his Park truck to the Campground to check on the safety of the campers. On the road, a tree fell on his truck, killing him instantly. The Florida Park Service is purchasing a memorial bench to be placed in Nathan's favorite spot for viewing the prairie, on the top story of the observation tower near the visitor center. Donations for this project are welcomed.
