The Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail

The Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail is a 16-mile recreational trail designed for walking, cycling, in-line skating, and horseback riding.

In 2008, the Friends of the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail (The Froghat Committee) merged with the Friends of Paynes Prairie, a citizen support organization that works with Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park who manages the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail.

Trail Details

Trailheads are located 1) at Boulware Springs City Park, 3500 SE 15th Street in Gainesville, 2) at the intersection of CR 2082 and CR 234 in Rochelle, 3) at 7209 SE 200th Drive (CR 2082) West of Hawthorne, and 4) at 21821 SE 7tst Avenue in Hawthorne. Restrooms are located in Boulware Springs City Park (Mile Marker 0), near Mile Marker 1.0, and at Mile Marker 6.6.

Well behaved dogs are allowed on a six foot leash.

There is no entrance fee for users of the Trail. For information about current Trail conditions call the Ranger Station at 352.466.3397.
