Celebrate Earth Day at Paynes Prairie!
Help clean up the trash and restore native habitat.
Experience habitat that has recently been burned by prescribed fire and be a part of its transformation.
This area is located off of SR 20, near Newnans Lake, and has accumulated lots of garbage over time. Park staff has begun restoration of this area, but they need your help this Earth Day.
Wednesday, April 22nd
10:00 am - Noon
Meet us at the end of SE 43rd Terrace
RSVP on this website so we can contact you with additional instructions or updates.
Wear full shoes and dress for work in the woods. Bring a water bottle. We will have a cooler of water to refill your bottle and light snacks available. Garbage bags will be provided for the trash, which park staff will haul away after the event. Long pants, bug spray, and gloves are recommended.
The work site is located at the end of SE 43rd Terrace, in East Gainesville, off SR 20. SE 43rd Terrace is located between the Sherriff's Office on SR 20 and Newnan's Lake. Turn down SE 43rd Terrace and follow it until it ends (the road will turn left onto another road, but you will drive straight into the park instead of following the turn). At the end of 43rd Terrace you will see a simple park cable gate (which will be open) and can drive straight into that area and park. We will be waiting for you there. See the map below.
