Join us for a paddle on Camp's Canal this Sunday, December 21st.
We will depart at 11:00 AM.
$5 per person
Space is limited.
Meet us at the intersection of Camp's Canal and County Road 234, in Micanopy. See map below. Parking space is limited, so carpooling is beneficial if possible.
The paddle will be an out and back trip, in a canoe, and may be challenging for beginner paddlers. Due to paddling against the current for a portion of the trip, and obstacles in the canal, this trip is not recommended for beginner paddlers.
We will paddle up Camp's Canal from CR 234, stop for lunch, then turn around and paddle back to CR 234.
Please bring a snack or lunch if you wish to eat on the trip.
Canoes will be provided for up to 5 people. Reservations on this site are for the 5 available spaces in park canoes. You are welcome to join us and bring your own kayak or canoe (with required Personal Floatation Device and whistle). If you wish to join us by bringing your own canoe or kayak, you do not need to register for a space on this site, but please call the ranger station to let us know to expect you. The number for the ranger station is 352-466-3397.
The meeting location is located beside the bridge where Camp's Canal passes under CR 234 in Micanopy. If coming from US 441, turn left on CR 234 and you will see the bridge not far after the address 9300 (Hickory Ranch). If coming from SR 20, take CR 234 southwest (towards Paynes Prairie) and you will see the bridge between Alachua Conservation Trust/Prairie Creek Lodge/Cemetary and address 9300 (Hickory Ranch).
If you have any questions about this location, please call the ranger station at 352-466-3397.
