This walk is suitable for those who aren't hikers but still want to have an outdoor Paynes Prairie experience. Call the visitor center to RSVP 352.466.4100.
Birding by Ear :: Special Guided Walk
Friday, May 16th at 7:30 am
Explore the new ACT property at Tuscawilla Prairie in Micanopy
Birdsong can be one of the most rewarding aspects of birding. However, with the variety of songs, calls, and chip notes, it's no wonder most people are intimidated by the challenge of identifying them. Come learn techniques for recognizing and remembering bird songs. Suitable for beginners as well as intermediate birders, this walk is timed perfectly to get you in the field practicing your new skill during spring. Closed-toe shoes are a must. Long pants, field guides, and binoculars are recommended. Spotting scope will be available and some binoculars. Handouts for studying will be provided!
RSVP: Call trip leader Ivor Kincaide at 352.377.6253 or email Info@PrairieFriends.org, 15 spaces available
*Board meetings are open to the public. Meetings are located at the offices of Scruggs & Carmichael, MetroCorp Center, 4041 NW 37th Place, Suite B, as the guests of Frank Saier.
