Our Goals for 2009
As approved 16 December 2008 by the Goals Committee
Events:
- Provide support for Star Gazing event on 17 January
- Participate in Conservation Stewards Awards on 20 March
- Provide support for two Film Forum events
- Support Saw Grass Festival
- Hold the Annual Meeting on 3 December
Programs:
- Provide support to Ranger-led programs
- Support Alligator Education Program
Outreach:
1. Assist in providing at least four presentations to groups in the community
2. Provide information tables to activities, as requested
3. Keep website up-to-date
4. Participate in Literacy Month
5. Participate in 3 Chamber of Commerce events
Projects:
- Activate the Corporate Membership program, and develop at least 2 new Corporate Members during year
- Grow Endowment Fund to $22.5K by year's end
- Work with Alachua Conservation Trust, Inc. (ACT) and the Old Florida Historic Highway Corridor Management Committee on the Witness Tree Junction park development
- Partner with ACT on acquisition of Prairie Creek property, including a grant proposal to the Florida Communities Trust
- Investigate enlarging the gift shop function, and make recommendations
- Renew job descriptions for Officers and Directors
- Develop a succession plan for Officers
- Activate a Membership Development program to maintain membership above 400
- Participate in the Master Plan program for the Old Florida Heritage Highway Corridor, identify specific projects to develop
- Support volunteer resource management programs by sponsoring the Sweetwater Branch clean-up, and providing supplies and equipment for exotics removal and native plantings
- Address the prioritized needs list provided by the Park Manager as far as possible
- Hold a Planning Meeting near year's end to evaluate performance vs. goals
- Support development of the Potano Paddling Trail
- Hold the Tom Walker Memorial ½ Marathon with the Florida Track Club
- Support pavement remediation program on Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail
